You do not need code to find out whether an app idea has legs. You need a clear promise, a few honest conversations, and a way to see if people take action. Here is the week we recommend.
- Day 1: Write a one-sentence promise covering who it is for, the problem it solves, and the result they get.
- Day 2: List five places your customers already gather, like groups, forums, subreddits, and local communities.
- Day 3: Talk to five of them. Ask how they solve the problem today and what that costs them.
- Day 4: Look at the apps they already use. Read the one- and two-star reviews; that is your opportunity.
- Day 5: Put up a simple landing page with the promise and a waitlist.
- Day 6: Share it where your customers are, or put $50–$100 behind a small ad.
- Day 7: Count real sign-ups and replies. Ask the most excited people what they would pay.

Book a call What a good signal looks like
- Strangers sign up without you chasing them.
- People describe the problem in their own words, with frustration.
- Someone asks when it will be ready, or offers to pay early.
What to do with the answer
If the signal is strong, bring what you learned to a strategy call. Real customer language makes the app better and the scope tighter. If the signal is weak, you just saved yourself the cost of a build, and you can adjust the idea and try again next week.
